About the Role

Byrne Equipment Rental is seeking a Business Development Manager – Power Projects to join their team in Al Jubail, KSA. This full-time position is central to driving growth in power solutions, encompassing projects from small-scale installations to mega power initiatives across the GCC operating territories. The role is dual-faceted, requiring both commercial acumen to identify and convert new opportunities and leadership in project delivery from tendering through commissioning and post-commissioning operations.

Strategic Business Development

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives for large-scale power projects. This involves direct engagement with key clients and decision-makers to identify and develop new business opportunities within critical sectors. The role requires the development and execution of a comprehensive Power Projects growth strategy across all of Byrne's operational regions.

  • Lead business development efforts for large-scale power projects throughout the region, engaging directly with key clients and decision-makers.
  • Develop and execute the Power Projects growth strategy across Byrne's operating territories.
  • Identify new opportunities within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Utilities, Infrastructure, and Industrial sectors.

Project Lifecycle Management

This position oversees the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept to final commissioning and beyond. Responsibilities include preparing detailed project costings, leading technical and commercial presentations, and managing contractual aspects to ensure successful project execution and risk mitigation.

  • Prepare project costing in collaboration with the Technical Manager and lead technical/commercial presentations to clients.
  • Review contract terms, manage variation orders, and mitigate commercial and execution risks throughout the project.
  • Oversee full project implementation, from kickoff to commissioning and post-commissioning operations, ensuring alignment on timelines, technical specifications, and costs.

Operational Leadership and Oversight

The role involves significant operational leadership, including supervising site teams, establishing operational policies, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The Manager will also be responsible for monitoring site performance and providing technical support.

  • Supervise the training and deployment of site operators, and establish site operational policies and procedures.
  • Monitor site performance, lead troubleshooting efforts, and coordinate breakdown response.
  • Champion Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and quality standards across all project sites.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project engineers, site supervisors, and operators.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess extensive experience in power generation or industrial equipment rental, with a proven track record in managing large-scale power projects. The role demands expertise in both commercial and operational aspects of project delivery.

  • 10+ years of experience in power generation or industrial equipment rental.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing large-scale power projects.
  • Proven track record in both commercial (business development, tendering, negotiation) and operational (execution, commissioning) aspects of power project delivery.

Essential Skills and Attributes

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge of power systems, coupled with regional experience and excellent communication skills. A willingness to travel is also essential for this role.

  • Strong knowledge of power systems, generators, electrical infrastructure, load management, and hybrid solutions.
  • Experience in Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region is strongly preferred.
  • Fluent English is required; proficiency in Arabic is considered a plus.
  • Willingness to travel across the region as business needs dictate.
