Civil Engineer

About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its team in Al Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves contributing to the ongoing development of Jubail, one of the largest civil engineering projects in modern times. The successful candidate will work on behalf of the Royal Commission, focusing on the engineering quality and technical requirements for site preparation and development.

Project Overview

Bechtel has managed the Jubail project since the mid-1970s, serving as the Management Services Contractor (MSC) for the Royal Commission. This involves managing design submissions from local architect/engineering (AE) firms and overseeing construction work by local contractors in Jubail and Ras Al-Khair Industrial Cities. The project's scope, renewed until June 2026, includes building new residential communities, iconic structures, major site preparation, commercial buildings, and extensive infrastructure such as utility services, roads, and port expansions.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing basic designs and providing guidance to independent engineering firms for detailed engineering design of site preparation and development.
• Ensuring the engineering quality design and adherence to Royal Commission technical requirements.
• Verifying that optimum designs are achieved for all site development packages.
• Representing the Royal Commission in technical meetings and Value Engineering analysis.
• Providing limited technical support during the construction phase.
• Administering contracts for site development prepared by A/Es.
• Performing civil site engineering reviews and coordinating reviews by other disciplines and departments.
• Preparing design guidelines for neighborhood centers.
• Reviewing site development designs for compound and commercial lots developed by private investors.
• Utilizing computer codes for site development analysis and designs.
• Reviewing, updating, and preparing revisions to Guideline Specifications related to site development.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in civil engineering, specifically in site preparation and development.
• Demonstrated ability to review and ensure the quality of engineering designs.
• Experience with technical requirements and design optimization in large-scale civil projects.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Al Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia, within the Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company (SABCO) operations. The role involves working closely with the Royal Commission, local architect/engineering firms, and contractors on a continuous development project.
