About the Process Engineer Role

Guardian Industries is seeking a dedicated Process Engineer with specialized expertise in Vacuum Coater Processes. This full-time position is based in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The role is integral to supporting and advancing the company’s environmental, health, safety, and stewardship goals. By ensuring consistent product quality and driving cost-effective manufacturing, the Process Engineer will contribute to Guardian's competitive advantage and overall business success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and optimization of coating processes for current and future product projects.
  • Contribute to the global development team, focusing on new thin film process technology, product launches, product transfers, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead an operational team safely and efficiently, taking ownership of vision advancement, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide process engineering support to plant operations, driving improvements in quality, performance, and throughput of vacuum coating systems.
  • Identify opportunities to learn from the market and integrate external insights, best practices, and opportunities to enhance Guardian’s process technology capabilities.
  • Deepen the understanding of Guardian's products and production process technologies.
  • Clearly present and communicate ideas, concepts, and plans across multiple levels within the region.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, learnings, and innovations to support business strategy advancement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in Optical Thin Film technologies and vacuum coating sputtering processes relevant to solar, semiconductor, and/or architectural coated glass industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to complex technical projects by analyzing challenges, identifying root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Proven expertise in problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, and Lean principles, with a track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience leading and motivating high-performing teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience in glass production environments, specifically working with coating lines.
  • Familiarity with thin film optical materials and expertise in thin film characterization techniques including Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-Rite color measurement, and X-ray Diffraction (XRD).
  • Experience with thin film optical coating design and analysis software tools such as TFCalc, Optilayer, Essential Macleod, Ellipsometer, or other thin film modeling packages.
  • Experience operating and interpreting data from quality control laboratory equipment, including profilometers, HunterLab spectrophotometers, and PerkinElmer instruments, as well as performing chemical and optical coatings durability testing.

This role requires a professional with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience. The Process Engineer will be a key contributor to operational excellence and technological advancement within Guardian Industries' Al Jubail facility.
