Job Description

About the Role

Actron Global is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control Engineer for a contract assignment in Al Jubail, Eastern Region. This role involves supporting the assessment and recovery of a petrochemical facility that has been impacted by fire and explosion damage. The successful candidate will perform field inspections, evaluate damage, and recommend necessary repair or replacement actions for instrumentation and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections and condition assessments of instrumentation within process plants, including distillation columns, reactors, drums, heat exchangers, fired heaters, compressors, pumps, and blowers.
  • Assess related instrumentation such as pressure, flow, and temperature transmitters, gas detectors, analyzers, tubing, cabling, and junction boxes.
  • Evaluate instrument and control system damage resulting from fire, explosion events, and water spray.
  • Develop repair and replacement recommendations based on damage assessments.
  • Document findings in detailed spreadsheets and inspection reports.
  • Assess instrumentation infrastructure from field devices through home-run cabling and junction boxes to the central control room and Distributed Control System (DCS) to ensure complete scope coverage and identification of restoration requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of industrial instrumentation experience, preferably in petrochemical or refining environments.
  • Demonstrated strong troubleshooting and documentation capabilities.
  • Comfortable working in both field and office environments.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing inspections in demanding onshore environments.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail and safety compliance.

Preferred Attributes

  • Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety (HW/SW design according to IEC 61508, Functional Safety Analysis, Design, and Operation according to IEC 61511).

Work Environment

This is a contract position requiring work in challenging field conditions within a petrochemical facility. The role demands adherence to safety protocols and meticulous documentation of findings.
