About the Role of Legal Counsel

S-Chem is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its team in Al Jubail, Eastern Region. This full-time role involves providing commercial legal services, support, and advice to S-Chem and its related entities. The Legal Counsel will ensure compliance with the legal framework governing business operations.

Purpose of the Position

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver sound commercial legal services and advice, ensuring that all business operations adhere to relevant legal frameworks. The Legal Counsel will contribute to protecting the company's interests and minimizing legal exposure.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on agreements and contracts related to routine operations, assisting in negotiations and communications to protect business interests and minimize liability.
• Conduct and support negotiations and communications with counterparties as part of the Legal Department’s representation of S-Chem.
• Assist the General Counsel with legal and ethical compliance requirements applicable to S-Chem and its staff.
• Offer advice and observations in the design and development of operating policies and organizational programs to mitigate potential risks associated with local and internal laws.
• Prepare initial drafts of contracts, agreements, and other documents within the purview of the Legal Department.
• Support compliance-related investigations and assist in managing legal disputes through negotiations or court litigations.
• Prepare, evaluate, and revise legal, commercial, and business documents, contracts, agreements, and official correspondences to ensure sound legal standing.
• Support legal matters and their resolution by conducting external market research in a legal context or based on established principles, covering areas such as supplier processes, regulatory compliance, Zakat/VAT, tax, and insurance.
• Evaluate litigation cases, discuss facts and circumstances with relevant parties, and develop action plans for successful resolution.
• Assist in liaising with external counsel and other suppliers engaged to support the Legal Department.
• Maintain control and confidentiality of legal, business, and commercial documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Perform other relevant tasks as directed by the General Counsel.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in a legal role, demonstrating a strong understanding of commercial law and compliance within a business context.
