About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer for a full-time position in Ras Al Khair, located in Al Khobar, Al Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This role involves supervising and directing field construction operations within an assigned discipline or area, ensuring compliance with specifications, schedules, and budgets.

Project Overview: Jubail Industrial City

Bechtel has managed the Jubail project in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia since the mid-1970s. Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company (SABCO) acts as the Management Services Contractor (MSC) for the Royal Commission, overseeing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) management. This includes managing design submissions from local architect/engineering firms and supervising construction work by local contractors in Jubail and Ras Al-Khair Industrial Cities. The contract was renewed in June 2026 for another five years, focusing on new residential communities, iconic buildings/bridges, major site preparation, commercial buildings, mosques, schools, hospitals, sports facilities, clinics, universities, utility services, roads, highways, and port/pipeline expansions.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee field construction operations within the designated discipline or area.
• Determine contractor workforce requirements and coordinate established area operational plans.
• Monitor work activities and ensure the quality of work performed.
• Verify that the most current design documents are utilized and all design changes are approved before implementation.
• Prepare daily reports and forecasts, including construction progress summaries, contractor personnel forecasts, and expenditure forecasts.
• Monitor tool usage on site, review Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables, and ensure crafts have necessary tools for productivity.
• Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
• Implement client/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
• Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and client resident representatives as instructed by construction management.
• Conduct employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
• Ensure compliance with client, Bechtel, and local/national safety codes, requirements, and standards, incorporating the Zero Accident Philosophy into all construction operations.
• Actively participate in scheduled safety meetings.
• Implement Six Sigma tools, analysis, and decision-making in the execution of duties.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience: 5-10 years in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct operations within an assigned discipline or area.
• Proven capability to ensure construction operations and subcontractor performance comply with specifications, schedules, and budgets.
• Familiarity with general functions inherent in supervisory field positions.

Work Environment

This role is based in Al Khobar and Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, within the Eastern Province. The Assistant Resident Engineer will work within a field construction organization, collaborating with various disciplines and client representatives on large-scale civil engineering projects.
