About the Role
Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves supporting the Director of Human Resources in implementing strategies to attract, retain, and develop diverse talent. The Assistant Director will lead and collaborate with the HR team to manage daily Human Resource Department activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Human Resources is responsible for executing objectives outlined in the Human Resources Business Plan, delivering services that meet employee needs, and enabling business success. Key areas of focus include:
- Overseeing recruitment, total compensation, employee relations, and training and development initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Managing staffing and recruiting processes to attract a diverse candidate pool.
- Administering benefits education and claims, including Workers' Compensation.
- Managing and conducting staff development activities, including performance appraisals and coaching.
- Facilitating effective employee communication and addressing concerns through an open-door policy.
Staffing and Recruitment Management
This role involves comprehensive management of the staffing and recruiting lifecycle, including:
- Ensuring open positions are advertised in appropriate venues to attract diverse candidates.
- Maintaining visibility of open position listings for internal and external candidates.
- Establishing and maintaining contact with external recruitment sources and networking with local organizations.
- Facilitating interdepartmental transfers, promotions, and transfers to other properties within the brand.
- Overseeing the selection and offer processes for hourly employees, ensuring proper procedures and documentation.
- Partnering with department managers and recruiting professionals for management positions, hiring decisions, and offer negotiations in accordance with SOPs.
Compliance and Employee Development
The Assistant Director plays a critical role in maintaining a compliant and supportive work environment:
- Ensuring compliance with key policies (*, Sexual Harassment, Non-Harassment, Non-Discrimination, No Solicitation) and conducting interviews according to guidelines.
- Verifying wages are paid in accordance with SOPs and applicable laws, and overseeing drug screening and background checks.
- Managing Workers' Compensation claims and educating employees and the HR team on benefits packages and eligibility.
- Ensuring hourly performance appraisal processes are in place and assisting managers in addressing employee satisfaction issues.
- Coaching managers on progressive discipline and ensuring development plans are documented and measured.
- Utilizing an open-door policy for employee concerns, establishing effective communication channels, and monitoring the work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for this position should possess the following:
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably within the hospitality sector.
- Demonstrated ability to direct and work with HR employees effectively.
- Strong understanding of recruitment, total compensation, employee relations, and training and development principles.
- Proficiency in ensuring compliance with regulations and Standard Operating Procedures.
