The Role: Field Service Technician

Flowserve is seeking a Field Service Technician to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves the installation, commissioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of Flowserve’s pumps, seals, and other equipment. The Field Service Technician provides critical real-time technical support to customers across various industries, including oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, coal, and wastewater, delivering recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment directly onsite at customer facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct direct, in-person service calls in response to customer requests.
  • Assess mechanical problems and implement prompt resolutions.
  • Collaborate with customer personnel and lead work crews as necessary.
  • Oversee the complete repair cycle, including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.
  • Ensure successful and on-schedule equipment installation.
  • Perform pre-startup equipment checks and assess startup performance.
  • Monitor the maintenance and performance of Flowserve equipment.
  • Provide training to customers on proper operating and maintenance procedures for Flowserve products.
  • Engage effectively with Flowserve's supporting organizations, such as repair centers, customer service, and sales engineering.
  • Maintain and submit organized, accurate records, including daily reports, jobs quoted, jobs performed, and time and materials charged.
  • Uphold Flowserve’s values of ethics, safety, and quality in all actions and communications.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a field service or mechanical repair role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial applications and operations of pumps, valves, seals, actuators, and various mechanical equipment.
  • Proven experience in installing mechanical equipment.
  • Experience repairing pump equipment, installing mechanical seals, and changing seal faces, gaskets, or O-rings.
  • Professional certifications in this field are required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to correctly read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-starting initiative and good follow-through.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with unfamiliar teams.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role requires an active driver’s license with a good driving record. The Field Service Technician must be able to travel, including globally, for extended periods. Overtime work may be required to minimize customer impact. The position involves physical activity, including frequent lifting up to 50 pounds (25 kg), ascending and descending ladders and staircases, and climbing and reaching in, under, and around large equipment, often in outdoor environments year-round.
