About the Role

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Lead Core Network Architect to join our team in Al Khobar, Eastern Province. This contract position requires over 10 years of experience and focuses on owning architecture decisions, driving multi-vendor integration, and leading high-performing engineering teams within mission-critical connectivity platforms.

Role Overview

This role involves providing architectural and technical leadership for mobile core networks, specifically for private mission-critical connectivity platforms. The Lead Core Network Architect will define end-to-end core architecture strategies, manage complex multi-vendor integrations, and act as the principal technical authority for EPC, 5G Core, and IMS domains. The objective is to ensure all solutions are resilient, scalable, and meet carrier-grade reliability standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and own end-to-end mobile core network solutions across EPC, 5G Core, and IMS domains, including subscriber management, policy and charging frameworks, and gateway functions, ensuring carrier-grade resilience and scalability for mission-critical private network environments.
• Define core network architecture strategies, including capacity planning, redundancy models, and geo-resilience designs, translating complex SLA requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Lead multi-vendor integration across RAN, transport, OSS, MCX, and security domains, managing technical interdependencies and ensuring seamless end-to-end interoperability.
• Produce High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documentation, operational runbooks, and technical reference architectures.
• Manage vendor technical relationships, acting as the primary technical interface, evaluating capabilities, and influencing roadmaps.
• Engage with customers at a senior technical level, building relationships with stakeholders and presenting architectural recommendations.
• Manage and mentor the core network engineering team, providing technical guidance and fostering engineering excellence.
• Support deployment, performance optimization, and acceptance activities, providing technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Over 12 years of experience in telecom core network architecture, with a strong background in mission-critical network environments.
• Deep technical expertise across EPC, 5G Core, and IMS technologies, including subscriber management, policy and charging systems, gateway functions, and end-to-end mobile core architecture (standalone and non-standalone 5G).
• Extensive experience leading large-scale, multi-vendor core network deployments, managing technical interdependencies and ensuring integration across RAN, transport, OSS, MCX, and security domains.
• Strong proficiency in IP networking, routing protocols, and security controls.
• Demonstrated ability to translate SLA requirements into technical solutions and produce HLD/LLD documentation, operational runbooks, and capacity/geo-resilience strategies.
• Proven senior stakeholder management and customer engagement skills.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience mentoring engineering teams in demanding environments.
• Experience working with or for KSA-based telecom operators or service providers is highly advantageous.
