Senior Planning Engineer at Saipem

Saipem is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to join their team in Al Khobar, Eastern region. This full-time role is crucial for establishing and managing effective planning and progress control systems to support project execution and decision-making.

Role Overview

The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for ensuring projects are completed according to internal baselines and contractual requirements. This involves identifying and analyzing deviations from the plan, estimating time impacts, and monitoring corrective actions. The role also focuses on fostering schedule awareness among all project participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage planning and progress control systems to support project management decisions.
  • Monitor project plans, identify deviations, estimate time impacts, and track corrective actions.
  • Promote schedule awareness among project participants.
  • During the bid phase: initiate project control activities, identify and register key information, develop Road Map and Internal Programs, customize activities to the Scope of Work, prepare initial engineering and procurement programs, develop Client Programs and Gap Analysis, highlight critical points and risks, and prepare final Project Programs with complementary documents.
  • During the execution phase: define project objectives and planning, assign resources, prepare the Project Baseline Program, monitor activity status, update progress, manage changes, execute KPI analysis and simulations, support invoicing package build-up, collect documentation, prepare the Start-Up Action Plan, define cut-off date calendar, and calculate physical progress.

Required Professional Skills

  • Knowledge of construction sequences for relevant disciplines.
  • Understanding of activity weights (standard/expected man-hours) and applicable efficiencies.
  • Ability to plan construction sequences, including scheduling activities, to ensure mechanical completion and final handover.
  • Capability to implement appropriate staffing for construction activities across all relevant disciplines.
  • Proficiency in planning discipline engineering activities and documentation deliverables to meet project schedule milestones, considering design workflows and engineering interfaces.
  • Ability to manage dynamic changes resulting from endogenous and exogenous factors.
  • Capability to monitor project activity progress (single/multiple function activities) and proactively address potential issues with corrective actions.
  • Contribution to project reporting for relevant areas.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in planning engineering roles, demonstrating a strong background in project control and scheduling within the industry.
