Job Description

About the Tour Mechanic Role

Ades Holding Co. is seeking a dedicated Tour Mechanic to join their team in Al Khobar. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience and is central to ensuring the efficiency and safety of drilling operations. The Tour Mechanic will be responsible for executing all planned preventive maintenance activities, as well as repairing and servicing mechanical equipment and systems critical to drilling.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Senior Mechanics to identify and resolve mechanical issues through tests, inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Promptly report any equipment damage or faults to rig supervisors.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, equipment manuals, and technical documentation to address complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Record and report all mechanical maintenance activities, equipment inspections, repairs, and spare parts inventory in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with the permit to work and isolation systems.
  • Develop and train Motormen, providing clear instructions regarding duties, responsibilities, and necessary safety precautions.

Equipment Maintenance and Operations

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment as per the planned schedule or as directed by the Senior Mechanic.
  • Execute maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical equipment on the rig, including engines, generators, pumps, compressors, cranes, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assist in maintaining and repairing power plants and monitor power distribution to ensure continuous availability.
  • Install new equipment in compliance with regulatory and company standards, including MOC requirements.
  • Utilize the Maintenance System for tracking, monitoring, and managing equipment performance.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of spare parts, consumables, and supplies to support maintenance requirements.
  • Perform duties related to preparing the rig for towing, ensuring all mechanical equipment is secured and maintaining system integrity throughout the rig move.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Formal training as a mechanic, such as a multi-year apprenticeship or training program, is preferred.
  • Alternatively, time served in the oil field as a mechanic with relevant training certificates and references may be accepted.
  • Working experience on offshore rigs is preferred.
  • Certifications as per the ADES Training Matrix are required.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform tasks involving occasional climbing (stairs, ladders), bending, twisting, and standing.
  • Capable of working outdoors under all extreme weather conditions, including noise, humidity, cold, and heat.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Availability to work day or night shifts, with a minimum shift duration of 12 hours, as required.

Work Environment and Collaboration

The Tour Mechanic is expected to maintain a clean and organized workshop and machinery spaces, ensuring they are free of hazards before and after work tasks. Disposal of debris must adhere to the company’s hazardous material segregation and waste management policies, with due consideration for environmental and safety aspects. This role also involves fostering effective working relationships with other departments, third-party personnel, and Client Representatives to ensure smooth operations.
