About the Role

Wood is seeking a TPE V / Principal Cathodic Protection Engineer for a full-time position based in Al Khobar, Eastern Region. This role involves leading and managing cathodic protection (CP) system design for various projects within the Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon refinery, offshore, mining, and petrochemical sectors, covering both FEED and detail design phases. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring project execution, quality assurance, schedule management, and effective team coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Cathodic Protection (CP) system design for Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon refinery, offshore, mining, and petrochemical projects during FEED and detail design phases.
• Prepare CP design drawings and documents in accordance with Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and Maaden standards for pipelines, tanks, well casings, and in-plant underground metallic equipment.
• Develop Scope of Work (SOW), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), Technical Bid Clarifications (TBC), Material Requisitions (MR), Non-Material Requisitions (NMR), and other CP bidding documentation.
• Attend pre-design Kick-Off Meetings (KOM) with clients and present CP design approaches for new projects.
• Prepare site visit agendas and checklists, and collect necessary site data for cathodic protection design of well casings, AC mitigation, pipelines, and EM34/31 usage.
• Perform all required site measurements for CP design, including potential data of existing structures, existing CP system parameters, and current measurements with flow direction.
• Supervise the engineering work produced by junior engineers and provide job-related training as required.
• Coordinate with all relevant disciplines in the preparation and development of deliverables, ensuring the incorporation of other disciplines' inputs.
• Contribute to the Project Execution Plan, Discipline Design Instruction, and Contract requisitions; prepare project plans and multi-discipline documents such as basis of design and subcontract scopes of work.
• Manage and coordinate engineering multidisciplinary inputs and deliverables across multiple execution centers, including workshare/high-value engineering centers.
• Ensure strict compliance of engineering disciplines with contract and scope of work, and assure the quality of engineering deliverables before issuance to the customer.
• Chair technical meetings with third parties and manage specific technical issues through to completion.
• Plan individual work activities, manage time, and liaise with disciplines to ensure timely receipt of comments.
• Input to work plans, set targets, conduct regular reviews, and expedite engineers to deliver on schedule, developing recovery plans for delays.
• Identify and address Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) issues in design, manufacture, construction, commissioning, and operations, adhering to company safety policies.
• Highlight and quantify changes impacting work and implement approved changes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 10+ years of experience working on Saudi Aramco projects, both onshore and offshore, primarily within design consultancies or GES+ companies.
• At least 10 years of experience in CP design preparation for well casings, tanks, pipelines, and vessels.
• Demonstrated familiarity with Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and Maaden CP standards.
• Proven experience in offshore CP system design, existing CP assessment, and monitoring.
• Possession of a valid Saudi driving license and proven driving experience.
