About the Role

Airbus ** is seeking a Ground Test Tool Shop Technician to join their team in Al Qatif. This permanent position involves supporting the Final Assembly Line by ensuring specialized test equipment, automated test benches, and tooling are maintained, calibrated, and ready for aircraft systems testing. The role requires a commitment to acting with integrity and awareness of potential compliance risks.

Role Overview

As a Ground Test Tool Shop Technician, you will be instrumental in the operational readiness of aircraft systems testing. Your primary function is to manage, maintain, and calibrate the essential test equipment and tooling. You will ensure all Airbus Test Systems and support tools meet operational specifications. When equipment issues or software deviations arise, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing test tools to minimize production downtime and maintain safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, configure, and validate avionics test benches, automated test equipment (ATE), and software environments for production deployment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and functionality checks on test tools for aircraft systems evaluation.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faulty test equipment, cables, harnesses, and hardware interfaces, coordinating with engineering and vendors.
  • Document tool wear and test-bench non-conformities in the SAP system, tracking repairs and managing recertification.
  • Collaborate with test engineering teams on upgrades, patches, and improvements to test software, hardware, and instructions.
  • Provide technical support to Ground Test Performers on tool setup and software operations.
  • Train team members on the safe handling and operation of sensitive test equipment and Airbus-specific test benches.
  • Ensure the safety of personnel and equipment in the Tool Shop and during deployment.
  • Review planned tool modifications and conduct Safety Risk Analysis on new or altered test setups.
  • Verify that all test equipment adheres to strict electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical safety standards.
  • Document and track the calibration status, safety certifications, and software versions of all active test tools.
  • Participate in root-cause problem-solving for tool failures or identified safety risks.
  • Coordinate daily tool and test-bench availability with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production Planning to prevent assembly line bottlenecks.
  • Track open tool-related Non-Conformities and coordinate timely repairs.
  • Maintain accurate inventory logs of test equipment, spare parts, and diagnostic tools.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance tool shop productivity, tool reliability, and equipment checkout/return efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

This role requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in a relevant field. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of avionics systems testing and the maintenance of specialized test equipment.

This is a permanent position based in Al Qatif. The role operates within a team environment focused on supporting the Final Assembly Line operations through meticulous management of ground test tools.
