About the Role

KUWAIT STEEL is seeking a Racker Operator - Ferro Silicon Plant to join its multicultural and diverse team in Al Qatif. This full-time position is suitable for candidates with 0-1 years of experience in heavy industrial environments.

Position Summary

The Racker Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the stoking car. This involves covering and charging raw materials into the furnace in accordance with approved charging sequences and production requirements. The role is critical for supporting stable furnace operations by ensuring timely, accurate, and continuous material charging, while maintaining strict compliance with safety procedures, operational standards, and housekeeping requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring timely covering of the furnace with adequate charge.
• Managing crust formation inside the furnace.
• Controlling charge spillages from the furnace area.
• Maintaining workplace safety at all times.
• Ensuring cleanliness around the furnace.
• Coordinating with the Shift In Charge and Control Room Operator for optimal furnace operation.
• Reporting any leakages and faults of the furnace promptly.
• Ensuring the cleanliness and proper care of stoking cars.
• Operating equipment safely and according to established procedures.
• Refueling stoking cars on schedule.
• Performing basic maintenance tasks on the stoking car, such as checking oil filters and engine oil.
• Addressing stoking car breakdowns as they occur.
• Supporting the maintenance team during furnace shutdown activities and basic furnace maintenance.
• Coordinating with the Shift In Charge and forklift mechanic for operational support.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience (0-1 years) in operating stoking cars, charging systems, material handling equipment, or production support machinery within heavy industrial environments.
• Preferred exposure to furnace operations, burden charging activities, raw material handling, and production support functions.
• Highly preferred prior exposure to shift operations, shutdown activities, and industrial safety procedures.
• Advantageous experience working with operating procedures, inspection checklists, and equipment monitoring activities.

Work Environment and Collaboration

The Racker Operator will work within a dynamic industrial setting, collaborating closely with a diverse team including the Shift In Charge, Control Room Operator, and maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and safe plant operations.
