About the Role

Airbus ** is seeking a highly experienced Test Pilot to join the Engineering department. This full-time position is based in Al Qatif, Saudi Arabia, and requires a minimum of 10 years of experience. The Test Pilot will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of ground and flight tests for production aircraft.

Role Context and Responsibilities

As a Test Pilot, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management of flight tests. This includes taking full responsibility for the entire flight, signing flight orders, and approving flight conditions under DOA privilege. You will strictly adhere to authorized flight test plans, with the capability to modify them in-flight in concurrence with the Lead Flight Test Engineer (L-FTE) if necessary, provided aircraft limitations are maintained. The Captain retains the authority to remove any unsuitable items from the flight order. Post-flight, you will engage in technical debriefs with Engineering staff to facilitate the prompt resolution of any faults or observations identified during approved test flights. Ensuring all ground and in-flight arrangements are made for safe and efficient flight conduct, including coordination with the I-FTE and dispatch, is also a key responsibility. Continuous engagement with customers during the delivery process and dedicated customer-focused activities are expected to effectively communicate Airbus's approved positions on industry issues and flight test matters.

Additional Duties

Beyond core flight test duties, the Test Pilot may be required to undertake a range of other tasks within the broader Flight Test perimeter. These can include assisting Training Departments, conducting external flights for purposes such as lease recovery, developmental flights, or commercial events. Short-term assistance to other Flight Test centers, such as Toulouse, Hamburg, Tianjin, or Mirabel, may also be requested. Additionally, participation in and presentation at conferences is a potential requirement.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Graduation from an EASA recognized flight test school (*, ETPS, EPNER, USNTPS, USAFTPS, NTPS, ITPS).
  • A minimum of 3000 total flight hours.
  • Over 1000 flight hours of specific flight test pilot experience.
  • A current multi-pilot instrument rating.
  • An ICAO ATPL eligible for conversion to an EASA ATPL.
  • ICAO English Level 5 proficiency.
  • Recent Fly-By-Wire (FBW) experience.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This is a 100% onsite position. The role requires the ability to see and read computer screens and documents, participate in conversations in person and via teleconference, and hear safety warnings on the production floor. Candidates must be able to speak clearly, operate standard office equipment, and some production tools. The role involves carrying and lifting items up to 30 lbs/14 kgs, pushing/pulling small furniture and equipment, sitting for extended periods, squatting/kneeling for access, and standing for discussions. Travel may be required independently and at short notice. Walking through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces, is necessary. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may include safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and protective gloves as dictated by site requirements.
