Job Description
About Perfect Vision and the Role
Perfect Vision is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to join our team in Dammam, Eastern region. This is a full-time position suitable for candidates with 0-1 years of experience in embedded systems development. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing and building the firmware for our telematics devices.
Role Overview
As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you will develop robust and efficient firmware that powers our telematics devices. This firmware is critical for capturing and processing vehicle and asset data at the edge, and securely streaming it to our platform. The role involves working with constrained hardware, integrating various connectivity solutions and sensors, and ensuring reliable over-the-air update mechanisms that our fleet depends on.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, write, and maintain firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers, operating on RTOS (FreeRTOS/Zephyr) or bare-metal environments.
- Develop and integrate device drivers and low-level interfaces, including UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, GPIO, and DMA.
- Implement vehicle-data acquisition protocols such as CAN, OBD-II, J1939, and Modbus.
- Build cellular connectivity and telemetry solutions using MQTT, TCP/IP, TLS, and potentially CoAP/HTTP.
- Design robust over-the-air (OTA) firmware update mechanisms, incorporating rollback capabilities and integrity checks.
- Optimize firmware for low power consumption, minimal memory footprint, and long-term field reliability.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers during board bring-up and with the platform team on device-to-cloud data contracts.
- Write unit and integration tests, perform debugging using JTAG/SWD, and support field diagnostics.
Required Technical Expertise
Candidates should possess practical experience with:
- Firmware development in C/C++ for microcontrollers.
- Real-time operating systems (RTOS) like FreeRTOS or Zephyr, or bare-metal development.
- Low-level interface development (UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, GPIO, DMA).
- Vehicle communication protocols (CAN, OBD-II, J1939, Modbus).
- Network protocols and telemetry (MQTT, TCP/IP, TLS, CoAP/HTTP).
- Debugging tools such as JTAG/SWD.
Qualifications and Experience
This role requires 0-1 years of professional experience in embedded systems engineering or a related field. A foundational understanding of the principles of embedded software design and development is essential.
Application Process
Interested candidates are invited to submit their application for consideration.
