About the Automation Engineer Role

Al Tuwairqi Group is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their team in Dammam. This full-time position requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience in industrial automation, specifically within rolling mill environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to ISPC HSE policies, including Lock-out/Tag-out and electrical isolation procedures.
• Perform troubleshooting and maintenance for SCADA, HMI systems, PLCs, drives, motors, and sensors.
• Support shift operations by preparing breakdown and shift reports.
• Assist in commissioning automation fault finding and diagnosis for rolling mill equipment, including loopers, shears, cooling beds, and reheat furnaces, ensuring all associated automation assets and systems return to normal operation.
• Participate actively in preventive maintenance programs.
• Utilize SAP PM for managing work orders, spare parts, and material reservations.

Technical Skill Requirements

• Proficiency in PLC programming using Siemens Step7/TIA and Rockwell/AB.
• Experience with basic HMI/SCADA systems, including WinCC and Inductive Automation Ignition *******
• Troubleshooting expertise for AC/DC motors, soft starters, and drives from brands such as ABB, Parker, Siemens, and AllenBradley.
• Familiarity with basic instrumentation, including encoders, sensors, HMDs, loop scanners, and process instrumentation.
• Understanding of basic networking protocols such as Profibus, Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet, Modbus TCP, Modbus ASCII, and RS485.
• Familiarity with UPS and low-voltage switchgear.

Industry and IIoT Competencies

• Awareness of IIoT concepts and principles.
• Familiarity with MQTT and OPC UA for device connectivity.
• Ability to support data collection and historian systems.
• Participation in projects related to OEE, predictive maintenance, and energy optimization.

Experience and Additional Skills

• 3-5+ years of experience in Electrical Maintenance, preferably in Rolling Mills and Industrial Automation with relevant software skills.
• Experience with Electrical CAD software and engineering design.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens, ABB, Allen Bradley AC/DC Drives, Servo Drives, and soft starters.
• Proficiency with SIMATIC Step 7, TIA, PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Experience with Rockwell, Allen Bradley PLCs and HMI.
• Basic knowledge of HMI, SCADA, industrial networking, and basic database programming.
• Familiarity with basic shift planning, spare parts management, and MV + LV MDB, PDB maintenance.
• Basic AC/DC motor maintenance knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of Industry , MQTT, IIoT, digitization, and cybersecurity concepts.
