Government Relations Officer (GRO)

About the Role

Sako Arabia Company for Logistics Services is seeking a Government Relations Officer (GRO) for a contract position in Dammam, Eastern Region. This role is responsible for managing and expediting all necessary permits, approvals, and regulatory requirements for heavy transport and oversized cargo movements across Saudi Arabia. The GRO will ensure timely permit issuance to support operational needs without delays.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and expedite permits for heavy haulage, oversized cargo, and special transport movements.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services (MOTLS), Transport General Authority (TGA), Traffic Police, and other relevant authorities to secure timely approvals for project cargo transportation.
• Review transportation routes and ensure all permit requirements are met prior to execution.
• Support the operations team in resolving permit-related issues that may impact project schedules.
• Manage and follow up on transport violations and authority inspections.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with key government stakeholders involved in transport permitting processes.
• Act as the primary focal point for all permit applications related to heavy and abnormal load transportation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Saudi National.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in Government Relations within the transportation, logistics, or heavy haulage industry.
• Proven experience in obtaining permits for oversized, overweight, and project cargo transportation in Saudi Arabia.
• Strong understanding of TGA and MOTLS regulations governing heavy transport operations.
• Demonstrated ability to expedite permit approvals and coordinate effectively with multiple government authorities.
• Existing professional relationships with relevant authorities are considered a strong advantage.
• Previous experience handling transport violations, regulatory inspections, and compliance matters is highly desirable.

Work Environment

This is a contract position based in Dammam, focusing on government relations within the logistics and heavy haulage sector. The role requires close coordination with various government authorities and internal operational teams.
