About the Role

Hitachi Energy is seeking a proactive Local Service Unit HSE Manager to join our team in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is responsible for developing and maintaining safe working practices and programs within the local organization. The role focuses on fostering accountability and achieving high-level safety and environmental performance, by coaching and supporting individuals at all levels to cultivate an exemplary safety culture aligned with our commitment to quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of safe working practices and programs within the local organization.
  • Ensure accountability and drive high-level safety and environmental performance across the local organization.
  • Coach and support personnel at all levels to foster an exemplary safety culture.
  • Communicate all health and safety initiatives, processes, and procedures throughout the organization to ensure a common understanding.
  • Train, coach, and support the organization in health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, guidelines, management systems, and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements and handle nonconformance issues according to relevant procedures.
  • Assist and guide management, supervisors, and employees on site in implementing accident prevention activities, interfacing with contractors and clients as necessary.
  • Support managers in manufacturing facilities and service sites in conducting risk assessments of workspaces, work tasks, and tools, and coordinating common spaces.
  • Initiate and maintain quality input for a health and safety management system that meets ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 specifications, rolling it out as necessary.
  • Carry out safety and environmental audits, investigate accidents and their root causes, and implement and supervise corrective actions.
  • Monitor, communicate, and apply standards created or maintained by external bodies, integrating them within internal health and safety management systems.
  • Provide guidance on competency-based health, safety, and environmental training for all personnel throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in Safety and Environmental related positions.
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards in a manufacturing environment and the role a safety system plays in managing the overall risk profile of a site.
  • Practical, hands-on experience in developing and managing safety systems with the ability to delve into site-specific details and develop solutions to complex safety issues.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA legislation for manufacturing sites.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Arabic languages is required.

Work Environment
