About the Role

Fugro is seeking an experienced Principal Exploration Geologist with extensive experience in mineral exploration and resource development to join their team in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This senior-level position is critical for providing technical leadership and strategic direction for exploration programs, utilizing advanced earth science techniques to identify new mineral deposits and enhance resource value. This role plays a pivotal part in supporting Fugro's strategic vision in mining ambitions and delivering innovative solutions to key clients.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a senior role, integrating business development with project delivery for significant mining programs, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from feasibility studies to closure.
Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, shaping strategic initiatives, and fostering an entrepreneurial approach to project execution.
Develop and implement comprehensive multi-project exploration strategies, including geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and drilling campaigns.
Lead, supervise, and interpret exploration program designs, including remote sensing, geochemical surveys, structural mapping, and advanced data analytics.
Manage exploration budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure efficient achievement of project objectives.
Develop and implement resource estimation methodologies in strict adherence to international standards such as JORC/NI 43-101 and integrate best ESG practices.
Lead advanced exploration studies and structural geology, including detailed fault system analysis and the creation of 3D geological models.
Provide robust technical input for proposals, tenders, and bid submissions, effectively representing the company's expertise in exploration geology.
Mentor and develop junior geologists, fostering a team environment focused on technical excellence and innovation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geological, geophysical, and geotechnical data for optimized exploration targeting and effective risk mitigation.
Proactively engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project alignment and successful delivery outcomes.
Advocate for continuous improvement in exploration workflows, reporting standards, and knowledge sharing across regional and global teams.

Qualifications and Requirements

An advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Geology or a closely related field.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in mineral exploration, with at least 5 years in a senior or principal consulting role.
Experience in both greenfield and brownfield exploration, with a particular focus on VMS and orogenic gold deposits.
Experience in the Arabian-Nubian Shield is a significant advantage.
High proficiency in geological modeling and GIS software, including but not limited to Leapfrog, Surpac, Micromine, or ArcGIS.
In-depth experience in exploration program design, resource estimation, and integration of earth science data.
Proven ability to deliver innovative solutions and drive business growth effectively.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and adapt to changing conditions in remote field environments.
