About the QC Coating Supervisor Role

MM Management Consultant is seeking an experienced QC Coating Supervisor for a full-time position based in Dammam, Eastern region. This role requires 5-10 years of relevant experience and is central to ensuring the quality of all coating and painting activities across various industrial projects.

Role Purpose and Scope

The QC Coating Supervisor will oversee and ensure the quality of all coating and painting activities for structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping systems, underground pipelines, and civil foundations. This position involves ensuring strict compliance with project specifications, international standards, client requirements, and company QA/QC procedures. The supervisor will lead coating inspection teams and coordinate effectively with construction personnel throughout project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all painting and coating inspection activities during project execution.
  • Coordinate with construction teams to ensure coating and painting work is carried out as per approved procedures and project specifications.
  • Conduct qualification tests for blasters and painters, issuing job clearance approvals.
  • Review paint technical data sheets (TDS), method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and applicable standards.
  • Monitor surface preparation, sandblasting, painting, wrapping, and coating application activities.
  • Ensure environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) are suitable before and during coating application.
  • Verify the proper mixing, application, and curing of coating materials.
  • Ensure all inspection and testing instruments are calibrated and used correctly.
  • Supervise QC Inspectors and ensure inspections are performed in accordance with project quality requirements.
  • Perform and witness coating inspections, including Dry Film Thickness (DFT), Wet Film Thickness (WFT), surface profile, adhesion, and holiday testing.
  • Coordinate with paint manufacturers to resolve coating-related technical issues.
  • Investigate non-conformities, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct training sessions for blasters, painters, and coating inspectors on quality and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, project specifications, and international standards.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Pipeline, or EPC projects.
  • Middle East/GCC project experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of international coating standards (NACE, SSPC, ISO).
  • Experience with sandblasting, protective coatings, wrapping systems, and pipeline coating inspection.
  • Familiarity with DFT, WFT, surface profile measurement, adhesion testing, holiday testing, and climatic condition monitoring.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC documentation, including ITPs, method statements, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and corrective action reports.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.

Essential Skills and Software Proficiency

  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
