Senior Operator Gantry Crane

About the Role

Al Tuwairqi Group is seeking a Senior Operator, Gantry Crane to join their team in Dammam. This full-time position involves operating gantry cranes to manage scrap materials and support steel production operations, ensuring safety and efficiency within the scrap yard.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-operation crane checks and complete checklists accurately.
• Report any operational problems immediately to the Scrap Controller or Foreman.
• Prepare charge baskets according to the specified charge mix, following instructions from the Scrap Controller.
• Load DRI, DRI Fines, or Fluxes into the basket as required.
• Clean scrap hangings from basket edges, clamshell wire ropes, and hangers after loading.
• Remove scrap spillages from the STC and basket loading area using a crane magnet.
• Regularly clean the truck movement area and pathway under the scrap yard gantry with a crane magnet.
• Unload P&S and heavy scrap from trucks using a crane magnet.
• Pick out leftover scrap from the bottom of unloaded trailer trucks using an electro-magnet.
• Shift scrap to designated storage locations as instructed by the Shift Foreman or Inspector.
• Clean the floor of leftover scrap after piling unloaded and inspected scrap from each truck.
• Sound the horn during LT/CT operations to alert co-workers and equipment in the scrap yard gantry.
• Ensure safe crane operations and maintain housekeeping standards in scrap yard areas.
• Assist maintenance crew during crane breakdowns or as needed.
• Train junior Crane Operators and monitor their on-job-training progress.
• Support the scrap operations team by performing related multi-skilled tasks when requested by the Foreman.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) Compliance

• Understand and adhere to organizational HS&E policies.
• Follow all safety instructions relevant to job tasks.
• Report damaged PPE, unsafe machines, or equipment to the appropriate staff.
• Maintain provided PPE in good, workable condition.
• Avoid horseplay and misuse of safety devices, equipment, and welfare facilities.
• Report any accidents, near misses, or hazardous conditions to responsible personnel.
• Attend all scheduled safety trainings.
• Exercise the right to refuse unsafe work.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in a relevant operational role, specifically with gantry cranes. A strong understanding of safety protocols and operational procedures for heavy machinery is essential.

This role is based in Dammam and operates within a dynamic industrial scrap yard environment. The position requires a commitment to safety and teamwork, working closely with scrap operations and maintenance teams.
