About the Assistant Manager, Banquets Role

Delta Hotels and Resorts is seeking an Assistant Manager for Banquets to join their team in Makkah. This full-time, entry-level management position involves leading banquet staff and directly assisting in the execution of events according to established requirements and standards. The role focuses on developing and directing the team to deliver consistent, high-quality service, communicating performance expectations, and training staff on operational processes. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for managing financial and administrative duties related to banquet operations.

Department Operations and Inventory Management

This role involves the comprehensive management of departmental inventories and assets, including maintaining par levels and ensuring equipment maintenance. Regular monthly department meetings will be conducted with Banquet Captains and employees to discuss operations and performance. The Assistant Manager will maintain attendance logs for banquet staff and enforce established sanitation standards. Adherence to and reinforcement of all company standards, policies, and procedures (SOPs, LSOPs, etc.) is critical. Ensuring employee awareness of event phase feedback from the Meeting Planner Survey and Guest Satisfaction Scores is also a key responsibility. The role includes ordering necessary supplies for the department, such as china, glassware, buffet presentations, and other service equipment. Utilizing banquet beverage "Use" records will guide the banquet beverage supervisor in controlling liquor costs, managing perpetual inventory, and requisitioning liquor. Understanding the impact of banquet operations on overall event success and managing activities to maximize customer satisfaction is essential. Staff scheduling for banquet services will be based on forecasts and service standards, with a focus on maximizing profits.

Leading Banquet Teams and Event Execution

The Assistant Manager will attend and actively participate in all pertinent meetings. They will lead shifts and actively engage in the servicing of events. Continuous learning and application of knowledge regarding food and wine pairings, contemporary cuisine, and overall event presentation are expected.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

Setting a positive example for guest relations is a core aspect of this role. The Assistant Manager will interact with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels, and will respond to and handle guest issues and complaints effectively. Empowering employees to provide excellent customer service and emphasizing guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings are key objectives. The role involves focusing on continuous improvement of service performance and guest satisfaction, including reviewing quarterly Meeting Planner Surveys and participating in the development and implementation of corrective action plans to address service challenges.

Human Resources and Staff Development

Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring Banquet Captains and employees with appropriate skills. Supporting a departmental orientation program for new hires to ensure they receive the necessary training to perform their jobs successfully is important. Ensuring employees understand expectations and parameters, observing service behaviors, and providing individual feedback are also key duties. Reviewing comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees, and participating in the development and implementation of corrective action plans are part of the role. The Assistant Manager will also communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring staff are trained in safety protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED. A minimum of 2 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional area is required. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of overall relevant experience.
