Role Overview

Marriott International is seeking an Assistant Manager - Front Desk to join our team in Jeddah. This is an entry-level management position responsible for leading and assisting with the successful completion of daily shift requirements across various front office areas, including Bell/Door Staff, Switchboard, and Guest Services/Front Desk. The role focuses on ensuring guest and employee satisfaction, contributing to the operating budget, and supporting financial and administrative responsibilities within a full-time capacity.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist with daily shift operations for front office areas including Bell/Door Staff, Switchboard, and Guest Services/Front Desk.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring quality, standards, and meeting customer expectations.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  • Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts.
  • Participate in department meetings and communicate a clear and consistent message regarding Front Desk goals.
  • Support all areas of the Front Office in the absence of the Front Office or Front Desk Manager.
  • Perform all duties at the Front Desk as necessary and understand the functions of Bell Staff, Switchboard, and Concierge/Guest Services operations.
  • Comply with loss prevention policies and procedures.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, advocating sound financial/business decision-making and demonstrating honesty/integrity.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members, serving as a role model for appropriate behaviors.
  • Coach, counsel, and encourage employees; handle employee questions and concerns.
  • Identify the developmental needs of others and provide coaching, mentoring, or training.
  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Participate in an ongoing employee recognition program and the employee performance appraisal process.

Guest Services and Operational Excellence

  • Strive to improve service performance and supervise staffing levels to meet guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives.
  • Provide services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Improve service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching.
  • Set a positive example for guest relations and empower employees to provide excellent customer service within guidelines.
  • Handle guest problems and complaints, seeking assistance from a supervisor as necessary.
  • Train staff on adherence to all credit policies and procedures to reduce bad debts and rebates.
  • Supervise same-day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and property occupancy.
  • Understand the impact of Front Desk operations on overall property financial goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in guest services, front desk, or a related professional area.
  • OR a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, with no work experience required.
