About the Role

Red Sea Gateway Terminal is seeking a Controller to join their team in Makkah, specifically in Jeddah. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operations and optimizing terminal resources.

Role Overview

The Controller is responsible for supervising the daily tasks of the Operations Executive. This includes ensuring that all planned crane and yard movements are adequately supported by equipment and manpower, and that all terminal resources are utilized effectively to achieve target productivity levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Assigning and activating quay cranes upon vessel arrival/berthing, and deploying other equipment for operations.
• Segregating equipment based on assigned cranes, planned crane moves, and pre-planned stacks for grounding and loading locations.
• Deploying equipment as required for heavy blocks and closely monitoring operations.
• Monitoring delivery and receiving blocks, coordinating with Ops Supervisors to reduce yard congestion.
• Closely monitoring truck turnaround time to achieve given KPIs.
• Optimizing equipment utilization in the yard to reduce fuel costs.
• Monitoring customs activities (clearing & laydown) and scan activities for smooth flow.
• Constantly monitoring crane sequences in coordination with Vessel Planners & Yard Planners, taking prompt action to resolve any clashes by changing crane sequences.
• Coordinating with Reefer Technicians during loading/discharging operations.
• Effectively assigning *** to operators to achieve good productivity.
• Preparing shift monitoring reports at the end of each shift.
• Maintaining hourly done moves reports to track performance against targets (*, 35mph per crane).
• Capturing all records for any incident/accident and reporting to immediate superiors.
• Adhering to SOPs 100% to ensure safe operations.

Performance will be measured against indicators including, but not limited to:

• Vessels with > 3 CI
• BP
• GMPH
• TTT vessel
• TTT Yard
• LTIF

Required Skills and Knowledge

Candidates should possess:

• A comprehensive understanding of overall container terminal operations, including vessel, yard, and customs activities.
• Proficiency in Navis Sparc's and N4 systems.
• Strong dispatching skills within a Terminal Operating System (TOS), including fulfilling obligations, completing assignments, meeting deadlines, and complying with organizational rules and procedures.
• Professional communication skills when interacting with supervisors, co-workers, and customers, demonstrating customer satisfaction skills and a duty-bound attitude.
• The ability to act as a frontline facilitator, divvying work assignments, monitoring live operations, and entering critical data.
• A willingness to work, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations with confidence to accomplish tasks.
• Professional quality in meeting deadlines, decision-making skills, taking ownership, and understanding strategy and procedures related to yard operations.
• A commitment to complying with safe working culture among the organization's workforce and external industry/third-party personnel.
