About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a dedicated Cook / Commis to join our culinary team in Jeddah. This full-time position is central to kitchen operations, focusing on the precise preparation and cooking of food according to established recipes and quality standards. The role requires a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, ensuring adherence to high quality expectations, and possessing the necessary physical stamina for kitchen duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and proper storage of food items.
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables; weigh, measure, and accurately mix ingredients.
• Prepare and cook food in accordance with specified recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and food preparation checklists.
• Prepare cold food items as required.
• Operate various kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Monitor food quality throughout the preparation process and test foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently.
• Set up and break down the workstation, ensuring food is served in proper portions onto appropriate receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, including tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Check and ensure the correctness of appliance and food temperatures.
• Adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures, including completing required safety training and certifications.
• Report any maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions to the manager.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
• Communicate with colleagues using clear and professional language, developing and maintaining positive working relationships.
• Support the team in achieving common goals and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.

Physical Demands

The role of Cook / Commis involves specific physical requirements necessary to perform daily duties effectively:

• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
• Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Capacity to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: High school diploma or *** equivalent.
