Fire System Engineer

About the Role

Johnson Controls Arabia is seeking a Fire System Engineer to join their team in Makkah, with responsibilities spanning Jeddah and Makkah. This full-time role requires an engineer with significant experience in fire protection systems, focusing on project management, technical oversight, and client coordination. The position involves leading projects from inception through to commissioning and handover, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection projects from award through commissioning and handover.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Monitor project progress, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
• Manage project risks, variations, claims, and mitigation plans.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports to management and clients.
• Review and approve fire system designs, technical submittals, shop drawings, and material selections.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, SBC, IFC, HCIS, Civil Defense, and project specifications.
• Coordinate engineering activities with consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Support technical problem resolution during project execution.

Commercial and Site Management

• Manage project contracts, subcontractors, and supplier agreements.
• Review scope changes and negotiate variation orders.
• Monitor project profitability, cash flow, invoicing, and payment collections.
• Ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled and commercial risks are controlled.
• Lead coordination between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
• Monitor installation progress, quality, and safety performance.
• Conduct project review meetings and resolve execution challenges.
• Ensure timely material procurement and delivery to site.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and authorities.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Lead project progress meetings and manage client expectations.
• Coordinate Civil Defense inspections and approvals.

Commissioning and Handover

• Oversee testing, commissioning, and integrated system acceptance.
• Ensure completion of punch list items and project close-out activities.
• Manage handover documentation, training, and warranty support.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in fire system engineering and project management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from award to handover.
• Strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, SBC, IFC, HCIS, Civil Defense).
• Experience in managing project budgets, schedules, and resources.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
