About the Role

ALPLA Group is seeking a highly capable Purchasing & Planning Supervisor to join our team in Jeddah and Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for overseeing and optimizing procurement processes and production planning within our manufacturing operations. The role requires a professional who can ensure efficient supply chain management and contribute to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities in Purchasing and Supplier Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records and the purchasing database.
  • Manage tracking records for all Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure regular updates to Order Management (OMs).
  • Implement and monitor systems to track goods and services POs for timely delivery.
  • Identify and report potential risks such as price increases or material shortages due to supplier issues.
  • Update the price matrix on a monthly basis to reflect current market conditions.
  • Ensure the maintenance of at least three approved suppliers for every item critical to customer supply.
  • Develop and negotiate favorable payment terms with suppliers to minimize cash purchases.
  • Improve response times for purchasing goods and services requested by functional departments and approved by OMs.
  • Streamline and optimize the gap between the PSR, PO, and RIR processes.
  • Lead the procurement group through all phases of the purchasing cycle.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions effectively with suppliers.
  • Report department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and analyze deviations from established targets.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive supplier evaluation reports.
  • Follow up on action plans resulting from audits and ensure the timely closure of all open items.
  • Collaborate professionally with auditors and ensure proper maintenance of all purchasing department records.

Production Planning and Optimization

  • Manage production planning activities, including sampling and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with all related departments regarding production plans.
  • Optimize production and equipment scheduling to reduce changeovers and achieve operational efficiency objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of working experience in purchasing.
  • Additionally, 1-3 years of experience in a Supply Chain position and/or a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in a previous supervisory or managerial role.

Specific Industry and Regional Requirements

  • Experience with plastic, packaging, and spare parts procurement.
  • Proficiency in both foreign and local purchasing processes.
  • Prior working experience within Saudi Arabia.
  • Experience in the packaging industry or a similar manufacturing sector.
