About the Role

WSP is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team in Jeddah. This full-time position is critical for ensuring the highest standards of quality control and assurance across various projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Role Overview and Purpose

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining site activities related to quality, meticulously recording observations, and ensuring contractor adherence to project specifications. This role involves managing and evaluating all quality processes to ensure efficient control within projects. The Senior Quality Engineer will support the construction team and other Quality Control Specialists, ensuring all work aligns with contractual requirements and established quality procedures. This includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge on architecture engineering processes and techniques, and coordinating technical activities with other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify vendor prequalifications, method statements, Inspection Test Plans (ITP), equipment data, material samples, and manufacturers for compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and the project’s quality system.
  • Ensure all requirements of applicable specifications and drawings are met and report on deficiency corrections on-site.
  • Establish and maintain robust procedures for developing standard documentation for project quality control and assurance, proposing necessary improvements.
  • Plan and execute regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Implement QA procedures and coordinate QC work with other technical disciplines to ensure seamless management across all trades and activities.
  • Coordinate testing and inspection of offsite materials storage and testing.
  • Inspect all materials for compliance with submittals and drawings.
  • Monitor the performance of all control activities and tests on building components.
  • Direct, supervise, and coordinate inspection and engineering QC activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to activity quality control.
  • Identify non-conformances, lead their investigation with relevant departments, and evaluate contractors' submitted corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Participate in the development of the Commissioning plan, roles, and responsibilities, and implement the commissioning plan.
  • Participate in and conduct Quality meetings with the contractor, construction team, and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering team to resolve all construction issues, RFIs, and conflicts.
  • Review, assist, and facilitate the Daily Report process; maintain an updated daily report; prepare and submit weekly and monthly quality reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in quality assurance and quality control within the construction or engineering sector.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge of production, construction techniques, procedures, codes, and standards across various disciplines.
  • Thorough understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Competence in the identification and management of problems and trends through defect analysis and workgroups.
  • Knowledge of statistical principles and the ability to conduct statistical analysis.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
