About the Chief Engineer Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all engineering and maintenance operations at its property in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah, Medina. This full-time position requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience to ensure the safety, security, and optimal functioning of the building, grounds, and physical plant.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Engineer will manage all engineering and maintenance operations, focusing on safety, security, and asset protection. This includes overseeing the building, grounds, and physical plant, as well as managing the department's budget and capital expenditure projects. A key aspect of the role is ensuring regulatory compliance and leading the emergency response team for facility-related issues.

• Supervise engineering operations, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.
• Maintain and operate all equipment for optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
• Establish and manage an effective rooms maintenance program.
• Ensure adherence to all Engineering departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
• Manage controllable expenses to meet or exceed budget goals.
• Oversee the selection and procurement of new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
• Inspect and evaluate facility conditions to determine necessary work.
• Recommend and arrange for services such as painting, repairs, renovations, and equipment replacement.
• Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department.
• Maintain accurate logs and records as required.
• Assist in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.
• Handle guest problems and complaints effectively, empowering employees to provide excellent customer service.
• Establish priorities for property maintenance needs and ensure ongoing communication regarding business objectives and performance.
• Manage human resources activities, including celebrating successes, fostering collaborative relationships, ensuring fair employee treatment, and providing feedback.
• Supervise employees' execution of departmental and property emergency procedures and ensure regulatory compliance with facility regulations and safety standards.
• Ensure disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and support the Peer Review Process.
• Administer property policies fairly and consistently.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet specific educational and experience requirements:

• High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.
• OR
• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major; 2 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position based in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. The role involves hands-on management of all engineering and maintenance functions within a hotel setting.
