About the Role

Saudi Aramco Base Oil Company-Luberef is seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Superintendent to join its team in Yanbu Al Sinaiyah, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time, senior position is central to managing environmental compliance, protecting natural resources, and ensuring that all operational activities meet both regulatory and company standards. The role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of environmental regulatory oversight.

Environmental Compliance and Management Systems

The Superintendent will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust environmental frameworks, including:

  • Ensuring strict compliance with local regulations, such as those set by the Saudi National Center for Environmental Compliance, and international standards like ISO 14001.
  • Managing all necessary environmental permits, licenses, and approvals.
  • Serving as the primary liaison with environmental regulators and government authorities.
  • Implementing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in alignment with ISO 14001.
  • Developing comprehensive environmental procedures, policies, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Conducting regular environmental audits and inspections to ensure adherence to standards.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Risk Assessment

Key duties involve continuous monitoring, detailed reporting, and proactive risk management:

  • Monitoring air emissions, water discharge, and overall waste management practices.
  • Preparing accurate and timely environmental reports, including monthly, annual, and regulatory submissions.
  • Tracking critical environmental performance indicators such as emissions, spills, and waste volumes.
  • Identifying potential environmental risks across various operations, including drilling, production, and pipelines.
  • Conducting thorough Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
  • Recommending and implementing effective mitigation measures for identified environmental risks.

Incident Response and Waste Management

The role includes critical responsibilities in preventing and responding to environmental incidents, alongside managing waste streams:

  • Developing and maintaining robust spill prevention plans.
  • Leading environmental response efforts during incidents such as oil spills and chemical releases.
  • Conducting detailed incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Overseeing the proper handling and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Ensuring appropriate treatment of produced water and drilling waste.
  • Promoting and implementing pollution prevention and sustainability initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement

Effective communication and collaboration are vital for this role:

  • Interfacing regularly with internal departments to integrate environmental considerations.
  • Communicating effectively with external stakeholders, including regulators and local communities, on environmental performance and initiatives.

Candidate Profile

Candidates for this position should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in environmental management and sustainability roles, demonstrating a strong track record in the outlined responsibilities.
