About the Opportunity

Taj HR is seeking a Government Relations Specialist to join their team in Yanbu, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on managing and coordinating the end-to-end customs clearance of imported shipments, primarily from China, ensuring compliance with Saudi customs regulations and timely movement of goods. The specialist will be crucial in navigating government procedures and utilizing the FASAH platform for various cargo types, including chemicals, aluminum, and equipment.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate comprehensive customs clearance procedures for imported shipments.
• Handle customs clearance processes specifically for shipments originating from China.
• Process and track shipments efficiently using the FASAH platform.
• Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of all customs and import documentation.
• Liaise with customs and port authorities to facilitate prompt shipment clearance.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with relevant government authorities, particularly in Yanbu.
• Coordinate with the Transport General Authority (TGA) and Traffic Department for transportation permits, movement approvals, and escort requirements.
• Monitor customs inspections, approvals, and releases, addressing any issues that may cause delays.
• Collaborate with shipping companies, freight forwarders, transport providers, and internal project teams.
• Ensure strict compliance with Saudi customs regulations and applicable import procedures.
• Efficiently resolve customs and government-related issues, ensuring timely follow-up.
• Maintain precise records of government transactions, customs documentation, and shipment status.
• Provide regular updates to the Project Management Leader on clearance progress and potential delays.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in Government Relations, Customs Clearance, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Shipping, or Import & Export.
• Strong practical knowledge of Saudi customs clearance procedures.
• Mandatory hands-on experience with the FASAH platform.
• Experience handling imported shipments, with a preference for those from China.
• Proficiency in dealing with diverse cargo types, including chemicals, aluminum, equipment, or similar goods.
• Previous experience interacting with Saudi customs and port authorities.
• Previous experience in an industrial environment is preferred.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Strong communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly in documentation and data handling.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and follow up on time-sensitive clearance procedures effectively.
• Established working relationships with government authorities in Yanbu, especially port, transport, and traffic authorities, are highly preferred.

Work Location and Reporting

This is a full-time position based in Yanbu, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The Government Relations Specialist will report directly to the Project Management Leader, contributing to the efficient flow of imported goods within the operational framework.
