Cable Design Engineer

About the Role

Jeddah Cables Company is seeking a Cable Design Engineer to join their team in Makkah, specifically covering Jeddah and Makkah. This full-time role involves the comprehensive design, specification, and engineering of cable systems and assemblies, ensuring all designs adhere to stringent industry standards.

Role Overview

The Cable Design Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end process of cable system development. This includes performing complex calculations, selecting appropriate materials, and determining routing methodologies. The role requires a focus on continuous research and development to upgrade and streamline processes and procedures in line with the latest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform critical design calculations, including cable sizing, ampacity calculations, voltage drop, and cable pulling tension.
• Select appropriate insulation types, shielding, and jacketing materials based on environmental, mechanical, and electrical requirements.
• Initiate and follow up on all product design activities by releasing trials for new family products, adhering to company design and development procedures.
• Review Inspection and Type Test Specifications and establish acceptance criteria for manufacturing and testing products as part of the product design approval process.
• Review methods and performance, and conduct continuous research and development regarding the latest technical standards to upgrade and streamline processes or procedures.
• Engage with clients when necessary to understand project requirements and ensure the technical scope is met.
• Participate in customer visits, technical meetings, seminars, and exhibitions as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 3-5 years of relevant experience in cable design and engineering. A strong understanding of cable systems, materials, and industry standards is essential for this role.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in the Makkah region, covering operations in Jeddah and Makkah. The role involves working within a professional engineering team focused on product design and development.
