Data Center Planner

About the Role

JAL International Co. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Data Center Planner to join its Data Centers & Critical Facilities / Information Technology team. This full-time position is based in Thuwal, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and requires a professional with 5-10 years of relevant experience in the IT sector, with a significant focus on data center operations.

Position Summary

The Data Center Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal capacity utilization and efficient operation of data center hosting environments. This position involves strategic planning, meticulous coordination, and direct oversight of various activities to maintain a robust, compliant, and high-performing data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct capacity planning for Data Center hosting requirements.
• Prepare detailed racking diagrams and coordinate rack deployments.
• Oversee racking and related activities performed by Data Center Operations teams.
• Manage Data Center Operations shift schedules to ensure continuous coverage.
• Coordinate interbuilding connectivity requirements with OSP/ISP teams.
• Maintain and manage the Data Center Asset Register.
• Coordinate vendors and manage hardware break/fix activities.
• Provide support for troubleshooting Windows/Linux server hardware issues.
• Monitor critical infrastructure components, including UPS, HVAC, fire detection & suppression, temperature, humidity, security, and power systems.
• Ensure Copper and Fiber cabling compliance with TIA-942 standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Diploma in Computer Science Engineering, IT, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of IT experience, including at least 3 years specifically in Data Centers.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Required experience with APC infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux configuration and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of structured copper and fiber-optic cabling.
• Basic knowledge of UPS, electrical distribution, and chilled-water HVAC systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Work Environment and Conditions

This is a full-time position located in Thuwal, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires a willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, and to participate in an on-call rotation when necessary to support data center operations.
