About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a Director of Information & Technology to join our team in Mecca, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role provides strategic leadership for Information Resources (IR) services, managing a revenue-generating function across a large property or multiple properties with a shared infrastructure. The Director collaborates with property management and Regional IR leadership to acquire technology services for guests, aligning with the property's specific business and customer base.

Technology Management and Operations

The Director serves as the on-site project manager for all technology initiatives, ensuring robust and secure infrastructure while adhering to corporate standards and budgets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, managing, and monitoring new system implementations and upgrades, including resource allocation and multi-vendor coordination.
  • Conducting needs assessments, ensuring compliance with budget, standards, and technology-related vendor contracts.
  • Ensuring property compliance with Marriott International Policy and Information Security Manual, addressing deficiencies proactively.
  • Evaluating technology/asset life-cycles, ensuring proper equipment (PCs, hardware, servers), and resolving system performance problems.
  • Certifying software applications and verifying implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Maintaining secure technology assets and current documentation for cabling, network systems, and applications.
  • Reviewing network performance, performing design/re-design as needed, and overseeing periodic inventories of applications and hardware.
  • Utilizing advanced knowledge in data communications, desktop support, and servers/networks to provide 2nd level support and train junior staff.

Financial Oversight and Vendor Relations

This role involves strategic financial management of technology operations and effective vendor engagement. Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing strategies to drive technology revenue and managing technology profit and loss.
  • Monitoring and controlling technology-impacted revenues and expenses (*, telecommunications, HSIA, A/V).
  • Verifying realistic CAPEX and operating budgets, and advising on technology needs in short- and long-term planning.
  • Reviewing vendor proposals and selecting appropriate technology and hardware vendors.

Leadership and Team Management

The Director is a credible leader responsible for fostering strong relationships and managing technology teams. Key duties include:

  • Communicating IR standards and best practices, presenting proposals and analyses articulately.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and leadership to subordinates, peers, and senior management.
  • Directly managing property-based system managers and technicians, and providing work direction to cluster teams.
  • Overseeing hiring, training, development, compensation, and performance management for direct reports.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this Director of Information & Technology role should possess a robust background in technology management and leadership.

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in information technology management, preferably within a hospitality or multi-property environment.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership capabilities in IR services and technology acquisition.
  • Proven experience in project management, financial oversight, and vendor relations.
  • Advanced technical knowledge in data communications, desktop support, and server/network management.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in managing and developing direct reports and providing work direction to technical teams.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Mecca, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, operating within a dynamic hospitality environment. The role involves managing technology across a large property or multiple properties with shared infrastructure.
