Field Service Technician

About the Role

Discovered MENA is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their client, a leading defense company in Saudi Arabia. This role involves providing advanced technical support and maintenance services to naval forces in the Kingdom. The position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and is offered on a contract basis. As a Field Service Technician / Sonar Technician, you will provide on-site technical assistance for towed sonar systems fitted on naval corvettes.

Role Context and Scope

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the operational readiness and maintenance of towed sonar systems. This involves both preventive and corrective maintenance activities. While primarily based in Jeddah, Makkah, deployment to other sites may be required based on operational customer needs. The role requires a strong understanding of sonar systems and adherence to OEM procedures and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth diagnostics to identify technical faults in towed sonar systems, utilizing available maintenance resources.
• Conduct planned preventive maintenance to minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and ensure system availability for operations, including organizational and intermediate levels (OLM/ILM).
• Execute corrective maintenance, including repairs and replacement of faulty components at OLM/ILM level, based on available tools and spare parts.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work, identified problems, and implemented fixes, submitting regular reports to the chain of command.
• Assist in inventory management by tracking incoming and outgoing spare parts.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OEM procedures and are conducted safely.
• Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Engineering Support Plan, estimating required engineering support activities for each period.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Proven experience with diagnostics, preventive, and corrective maintenance of complex technical systems, preferably sonar systems.
• Familiarity with organizational and intermediate level maintenance (OLM/ILM).
• Ability to maintain detailed documentation and generate reports.
• Understanding of spare parts management principles.
• Adherence to OEM procedures and safety regulations.

Work Environment

This is a contract position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with potential deployments to other operational sites as needed. The role involves working directly with naval forces and requires a commitment to maintaining high technical standards and operational readiness.
