GIS Specialist

About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a GIS Specialist to join its team in the Makkah region, specifically supporting projects in Jeddah and Makkah. This full-time position is critical for the delivery of major transportation, road, and utility infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will apply their expertise in geospatial data management and analysis throughout the project lifecycle.

Role Purpose and Context

The GIS Specialist will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and analyzing geospatial data to support various project functions. These include construction supervision, asset management, utility coordination, and comprehensive project reporting. The role ensures accurate and consistent spatial data representation for critical infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and manage GIS databases, geodatabases, and spatial datasets for infrastructure projects.
• Support transportation, roads, utilities, and drainage projects through geospatial analysis and mapping.
• Integrate survey, utility, engineering, and construction data into GIS platforms.
• Produce high-quality GIS maps, drawings, dashboards, and spatial reports for project teams and clients.
• Support utility coordination, asset inventories, and infrastructure mapping activities.
• Verify the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of geospatial data received from contractors and stakeholders.
• Manage and maintain GIS data standards, metadata, and quality control procedures.
• Coordinate with land surveyors, engineers, and site supervision teams to ensure accurate spatial representation of project assets.
• Support the preparation of as-built GIS records and digital asset databases.
• Perform spatial analysis to support project planning, progress monitoring, and decision-making.
• Assist in the development and implementation of GIS workflows and data management processes.
• Support client reporting requirements and geospatial data submissions throughout project delivery.

Candidate Profile

• Mandatory experience within Saudi Arabia (KSA).
• Proven experience working with engineering consultancy firms.
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position based in the Makkah region, primarily supporting projects in Jeddah and Makkah. The role requires on-site engagement with project teams and stakeholders.
