About the Role

WSP Middle East is seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer to join our team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires over 10 years of experience and involves serving as the Consultant's lead representative on site for significant infrastructure projects.

Role Overview

As Resident Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee construction activities, ensuring all works adhere to contractual obligations, quality standards, approved specifications, and project schedules. This role demands extensive experience in supervising transportation, roadway, and utility infrastructure projects within Saudi Arabia, specifically gained with engineering consultancy organizations in site supervision capacities. This position is not suitable for candidates with predominant experience in building projects, contractor organizations, design office functions, or head office-based engineering roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site supervision team for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the Client, Contractor, and Consultant team on site.
• Monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, standards, and contractual requirements.
• Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes throughout project execution.
• Review and provide recommendations on contractor submissions, including method statements, material approvals, and work programmes.
• Monitor project progress and identify potential risks, delays, and construction challenges.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Review, validate, and certify contractor progress reports and payment applications.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Chair site meetings and prepare project status reports for clients and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to site supervision personnel.
• Support the successful delivery of transportation corridors, roads, highways, utility networks, drainage, and associated infrastructure works.

Qualifications and Experience

• Over 15 years of experience in site supervision roles.
• Mandatory experience within Saudi Arabia (KSA).
• Proven experience with engineering consultancy organizations in a site supervision environment.
• Demonstrated experience supervising transportation, highways, roads, utilities, drainage, and associated civil infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and infrastructure delivery frameworks.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position primarily based in Makkah, with potential project involvement in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires a strong on-site presence to effectively manage project supervision.
