Senior Architectural Engineer

About the Role

Eng. Salah Mohammed Alzughaiby Group, a reputable engineering consultancy in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Senior Architectural Engineer. This full-time role involves joining the supervision team for an iconic high-rise tower project currently under construction. The project is in the structural works stage for its initial floors, requiring an experienced professional to oversee architectural works.

Role Context and Purpose

The Senior Architectural Engineer will be responsible for supervising and monitoring architectural works during the construction phase of the high-rise tower. This includes ensuring strict compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and overall project requirements. The role demands strong technical and site supervision experience, along with effective coordination with the Contractor, Client, and other project disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor architectural works on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, materials, and quality requirements.
• Review architectural shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, samples, and technical submissions from the Contractor.
• Coordinate architectural works with structural, MEP, and other disciplines to identify and resolve interface issues.
• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor the quality and progress of architectural works.
• Identify technical issues, non-conformities, and construction deficiencies, and follow up on their resolution.
• Provide technical guidance to the architectural supervision team and coordinate with the Project Manager and other discipline engineers.
• Review architectural details and construction proposals, providing technical recommendations within the Consultant’s supervision scope.
• Monitor the Contractor’s compliance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Coordinate with the Client, Contractor, and relevant stakeholders regarding architectural matters.
• Monitor site progress and support the project team in maintaining the required project schedule.
• Review and provide recommendations on the Contractor’s interim payment applications related to architectural works, in coordination with the commercial/project controls team.
• Maintain proper records of inspections, technical comments, approvals, and outstanding architectural issues.
• Ensure architectural works are executed in accordance with applicable Saudi Building Code requirements and relevant project standards.
• Support the Project Manager in resolving architectural technical and coordination matters throughout the construction phase.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Over 10 years of proven experience as a Supervision Consultant / Senior Architect Engineer on large-scale high-rise buildings or tower projects.
• Strong experience in the supervision of architectural works during the construction phase, preferably on high-rise or iconic tower projects.
• Strong knowledge of architectural construction methods, materials, specifications, and quality control requirements.
• Good knowledge of the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and applicable local regulations and standards.
• Strong experience in reviewing architectural shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical submissions.
• Ability to conduct site inspections and effectively monitor the quality and progress of architectural works.
• Strong coordination skills with structural, MEP, and other disciplines.
• Ability to identify technical issues and provide practical site-based solutions.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with the Client, Contractor, and project team.
• Ability to lead and provide technical guidance to junior architectural engineers and inspectors.
• Experience in reviewing contractors’ interim payment applications related to architectural works is preferred.
• Proficiency in architectural design software is not a primary requirement; familiarity with relevant document review and project management systems is considered an advantage.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, working within an engineering consultancy office on a high-rise tower project. The role requires active site presence and coordination with various project stakeholders.
