About Enterprise Singapore and the Role

Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) is an agency under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, dedicated to strengthening Singapore’s economy by building enterprise capabilities in innovation, technology, and internationalisation. The agency supports Singaporean companies in accessing global market opportunities, collaborating with technology partners, and promoting Singapore as a hub for global trade and innovation. We are seeking a (Senior) Business Development Manager to join the Riyadh Overseas Centre (OC) team, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a full-time position.

Purpose of the Role

The Riyadh Overseas Centre’s primary role is to provide in-market assistance to Singapore-based companies looking to expand their international footprint into the Middle East, specifically the markets of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. This position is central to identifying and developing opportunities, and facilitating market entry through various strategies such as export, investment, joint ventures, and other business alliances. Additionally, the role contributes to cultivating and attracting international traders to establish a presence in Singapore. This portfolio drives Market Intelligence, Business Development, and Strategic Partnership Development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support work related to identifying and facilitating business opportunities for Singaporean companies in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, local partners, and industry clients.
  • Monitor the business environment and provide up-to-date market intelligence, including sector- and region-specific research and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities across sectors by tracking key growth areas and emerging trends.
  • Plan, organise, and execute marketing trips, business missions, and related activities to support market entry and expansion efforts for Singaporean companies.
  • Prepare market reports and insights to strengthen Singaporean companies’ understanding of the operating landscape in the region.
  • Identify, establish, maintain, and cultivate strategic relationships and partnerships with a wide range of in-market stakeholders to generate leads and facilitate business matching.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of engagement strategies with key stakeholders to enhance collaboration and improve market access.
  • Promote Singapore as a vibrant trading and innovation hub through stakeholder engagements and market-facing initiatives.
  • Support the Regional Director in Riyadh and Singapore HQ on strategic initiatives and regional priorities.
  • Travel frequently within Saudi Arabia and to Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait for stakeholder engagement, market development, and business activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • More than 4 years of relevant working experience in business development, market analysis, marketing, and/or related fields, with an interest in international trade and investment promotion.
  • Experience working overseas, with foreign government and/or multinational organisations, and in client and external stakeholder relationship management is an advantage.
  • Experience in trade and investment promotion services, and/or familiarity with official bilateral engagements is an advantage.
  • Experience in sectors such as Infrastructure, Urban Solutions, Energy, Logistics, Digital, and Innovation is an advantage.
  • Ability to apply strong analytical and research skills to conduct accurate analysis and compile concise, clear reports and presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective communication skills, with a strong command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate diplomatically and tactfully with stakeholders.
  • Resourcefulness, independence, and a results-oriented approach to drive work outcomes.
  • Multitasking and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities, attend meetings, and travel as required.
  • Ability to leverage existing networks of contacts in Saudi Arabia and other relevant markets to support lead generation and project development for Singapore-based companies is an advantage.
