The Role: Assistant Consultant, Adult Cardiology

We are seeking a full-time Assistant Consultant in Adult Cardiology to join our team in Riyadh. This position involves assisting in the provision of comprehensive medical care within the Adult Cardiology field and supervising medical trainees, all in accordance with established medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Consultant will undertake a range of duties encompassing clinical practice, academic contributions, research participation, and administrative tasks. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Consultants in delivering patient care and management in Adult Cardiology, adhering to hospital medical care standards.
  • Conducting patient assessments, examinations, and compiling detailed case histories to aid in diagnosis and management.
  • Documenting comprehensive medical histories, performing thorough physical examinations, and formulating patient management plans for Consultant review.
  • Providing rotational on-call coverage for the specialty during evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Preparing for and participating in consultant and specialist ward rounds, ensuring accurate documentation of findings in medical records.
  • Following up on outpatient investigation results and modifying treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Attending specialty and outpatient clinics, and participating in the on-call schedule as required.
  • Performing other assigned clinical responsibilities.

Academic and Training Contributions

  • Providing orientation, bedside training, and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows.
  • Staying current with the latest techniques and developments in the specialization, selectively implementing advancements to improve technical standards.
  • Participating actively in the department's educational activities and training programs.
  • Engaging in national and international medical conferences.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Graduation from a medical school in good standing.
  • Completion of the required period of postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty.
  • Possession of Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification, or an equivalent qualification as determined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of training in a specialty and subspecialty, combined with relevant post-training experience.
