About the Role
The National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a Consultant Interventional Cardiology to join its team in Makkah. This full-time position involves providing comprehensive care for both inpatient and outpatient cardiology patients, maintaining the highest standards of professional performance. The role requires adherence to evidence-based medicine, professional medical ethics, and established healthcare regulations within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, contributing to the department's quality plan and overall organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver superior quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding to all patients within NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
- Provide patient care within the parameters of professional competence and clinical privileges for both inpatients and outpatients.
- Practice within the framework of clinically relevant and scientifically valid standards, guidelines, and criteria.
- Conduct duties in the cardiology clinic, including evaluating patients with cardiovascular diseases.
- Provide care to patients in the coronary care unit, intermediate care unit, and other medical wards.
- Offer consultation services to inpatients within the area of expertise.
- Perform regular ward rounds independently or as part of a team to formulate multi-disciplinary treatment plans.
- Assess and refer appropriate patients to other medical facilities, and accept referrals for medical problems within the specialty.
- Participate in the departmental on-call rota for patient care and admissions.
- Respond to emergencies, offering advice and active participation as required, related to the specialty.
- Uphold patients' rights to security, confidentiality, and privacy.
- Maintain appropriate and accurate patient medical records with timely and legible completion.
- Abide by Department Policies and Procedures, hospital by-laws, Rules, and Regulations.
Clinical Procedures and Expertise
The Consultant Interventional Cardiology will be proficient in performing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures, including:
- Stress testing and nuclear cardiology.
- Electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation.
- Holter monitoring.
- Echocardiogram and Doppler studies.
- Cardiac catheterization.
- Pacemaker implantation and management.
Leadership and Professional Development
- Provide effective leadership within the department and supervise assigned junior staff.
- Lead performance improvement functions, including measurement, assessment, and enhancement of clinical and non-clinical processes as part of the Departmental Quality Plan.
- Actively participate in Continued Medical Education (CME) through hospital activities (morning reports, grand rounds, seminars, journal clubs) and national/international meetings.
- Engage in literature review, case reporting, and clinical studies/research.
- Actively participate in training programs for junior medical staff, nursing staff, and technicians.
- Continuously update medical knowledge and upgrade professional skills.
- Participate in assigned committee meetings, such as Quality Improvement and Infection Control.
- Educate patients and their families regarding their medical conditions and care plans, ensuring appropriate documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for this role should possess:
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in Interventional Cardiology.
- A strong commitment to maintaining a high level of professional performance in accordance with Evidence-based medicine, professional medical ethics, CBAHI / JCIA standards, hospital medical by-laws, and laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Reporting and Collaboration
The Consultant Interventional Cardiology reports directly to the Head of Department. This role involves supervising Senior Registrars, Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other paramedical staff. Collaboration is essential, requiring liaison with consultants within the specialty and other departments, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, as well as patients and their families.
