About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking an Assistant Consultant, General & Upper GI Surgery. This full-time position involves assisting in the provision of medical care within the General & Upper GI Surgery field, alongside supervising interns and residents. The role operates in strict adherence to current medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and the Hospital’s established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Consultant in providing patient care and management in General & Upper GI Surgery, aligning with the Hospital's medical care standards.
• Deliver high-quality patient care across all aspects of General & Upper GI Surgery, consistent with approved clinical privileges.
• Provide consultations for inpatients and emergency room cases upon request, ensuring timely responses within the Hospital’s prescribed timeframe.
• Ensure the timely completion, accuracy, and legibility of medical records.
• Provide on-call service, maintaining availability and response times as stipulated by Hospital policy.
• Conduct daily morning rounds to identify patients ready for discharge and ensure discharge orders are written 24 hours prior to discharge.
• Perform other clinical responsibilities related to the specialty as assigned.

Professional Development and Training

• Provide orientation, bedside training, and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows as assigned.
• Participate actively in the department’s educational activities and training programs.
• Engage in national and international medical conferences to stay current with advancements.
• Maintain and enhance professional knowledge, fulfilling continuing education requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Graduation from a medical school in good standing.
• Completion of the required period of postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty.
• Possession of Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification, or an equivalent qualification as outlined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.
• A minimum of two (2) years of training in the specialty and subspecialty, coupled with post-training experience.
