The Role of Assistant Manager Indirect Tax

Grant Thornton Saudi Arabia is seeking an Assistant Manager of Indirect Tax to join its Riyadh team. This full-time role involves managing client engagements related to VAT, Real Estate Transaction Tax (RETT), excise tax, and other indirect tax matters. The position focuses on delivering advisory and compliance services across Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region. This is a client-facing opportunity for an experienced tax professional to apply technical expertise and commercial insight, build client relationships, and contribute to the Indirect Tax practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and filing deadlines.
  • Lead the delivery of indirect tax engagements, providing clients with clear, practical, and commercially focused advice.
  • Provide VAT advisory services on complex transactions, business restructures, and cross-border operations.
  • Advise clients on legislative changes, VAT implications, and potential risks to ensure proactive compliance and planning.
  • Identify VAT considerations for outbound and inbound investments in Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region.
  • Develop a technical understanding of GCC Customs Law and its application across member states.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, offering strategic tax insights that support business growth.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day contact for key clients, ensuring timely responses and proactive communication.
  • Contribute to client retention and business development by identifying new service opportunities and supporting proposals and presentations.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across service lines to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Grant Thornton’s quality standards, ethics, and risk management procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in indirect tax. The role requires strong technical expertise in tax matters and commercial insight. The ability to build trusted client relationships is essential.
