About Mace and the Project

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in projects and redefine ambition. This full-time role for an Associate Director Quality Assurance is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on a large new build airport project. This significant infrastructure development aims to set a global benchmark for aviation experience and attract 120 million passengers by 2030.

The Role

The Associate Director Quality Assurance will direct the construction inspection programme and enforce quality standards across all active work packages. This position involves leading a team of quality professionals, ensuring full alignment with contract requirements, and adhering to applicable regulatory and aviation authority standards for this major capital project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the construction inspection programme across all active work packages, ensuring inspections are planned, resourced, and executed to the required frequency and rigor.
  • Establish and enforce construction quality standards, codes, and specifications, ensuring full alignment with contract requirements and applicable regulatory/aviation authority standards.
  • Lead a team of inspectors and quality engineers, setting inspection protocols, competency requirements, and performance expectations across all disciplines and packages.
  • Oversee non-conformance management, ensuring timely identification, root-cause investigation, corrective action, and closure of quality issues raised in the field.
  • Enforce contractor and subcontractor accountability for workmanship, materials compliance, and adherence to approved method statements and inspection test plans (ITPs).
  • Chair quality review meetings and inspection escalation forums, reporting on inspection coverage, defect trends, and standards compliance to senior programme leadership.
  • Audit contractor quality management systems and site quality control processes, and champion a culture of continuous improvement through training, standards awareness, and lessons-learned across site teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in construction quality, inspection, or standards enforcement, including senior/leadership roles on major capital projects.
  • Proven experience on airport, transportation, or other large-scale infrastructure programmes, enforcing quality standards and contractor accountability.
  • Experience within a Program Management Office or Business Enablement quality function on a major programme is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/construction engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree in Quality Management is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certification (*, CQI/IRCA, CMQ/OE, or equivalent quality/engineering certification) is advantageous.
