About the Assistant Manager, Restaurants Role
Courtyard by Marriott in Riyadh is seeking an Assistant Manager for its Restaurants. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant and bar, including guest room service. The role involves ensuring guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to operating budgets and maintaining compliance with standards and legal obligations.
Core Responsibilities
The Assistant Manager will assist in managing the restaurant team by addressing employee issues, supervising performance, and providing feedback. This includes assisting in the supervision of daily shift operations and taking charge of the restaurant and related areas in the absence of senior management. Participation in department meetings and clear communication of departmental goals are also key aspects of this role.
Daily restaurant operations include ensuring staff have necessary supplies and uniforms, communicating food quality and service standard issues to the chef and manager, and supervising beverage service in accordance with local laws. The role also involves striving to meet or exceed budgeted goals and performing duties of restaurant employees as needed, including opening and closing procedures.
Guest Service and Team Development
Providing superior guest service is a primary focus. This involves interacting with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service standards, and encouraging employees to deliver excellent service within established guidelines. The Assistant Manager will handle guest issues and complaints, seeking assistance from supervisors when necessary, and actively working to improve service performance. Establishing positive rapport with guests and assisting staff in reviewing guest feedback are also important functions.
Human resources activities include supervising ongoing training initiatives, utilizing on-the-job training tools, communicating performance expectations for each position, and providing ongoing coaching and advice to employees regarding their performance.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED along with 4 years of experience in food and beverage, kitchen, or a related professional field. Alternatively, an Associate's degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality Management, Business Management, or a related major, combined with 2 years of food and beverage, kitchen, or related professional experience, will be considered.
Role Context
This is an entry-level management position within the restaurant and bar operations. The role requires a minimum of 5-10 years of experience. The work is full-time and located in Riyadh.
