About the Role

Qatar Airways is seeking a Cargo Operations Manager to be based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves overseeing and optimizing cargo operations within the region.

Role Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to ensure smooth and efficient cargo operations through close coordination, supervision, and negotiation with General Handling Agents (GHAs) and local service providers. The Manager will continuously monitor adherence to local authority and regulatory body regulations, ensuring strict compliance with IATA standards for inbound and outbound cargo movement, while focusing on reducing operational costs and improving customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recommend service enhancements and cost reduction strategies, participating in the airline operating committee to address infrastructure issues.
  • Implement, establish, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with GHAs to ensure high-quality cargo operations, including streamlining policies for GHA staff to follow in the absence of cargo personnel.
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with service providers and GHAs to meet required operational performance levels.
  • Collaborate with Station and Regional Heads to manage ground handling activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
  • Minimize discrepancies and non-conformances to reduce claims, penalties, and carrier liability, thereby increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee Safety, Security, and Operational compliance in local markets.
  • Establish strong relationships with authorities and regulatory bodies, liaising with local Government and Customs Authorities for permissions and compliance related to cargo operations.
  • Maintain aircraft on-time performance, preventing delays caused by ground operations.
  • Continuously evaluate best industry practices to identify value-adding operational improvements.
  • Support Request for Proposal (RFP) processes with HQ, Contracts, and Procurement for existing or new operations.
  • Foster smooth working relations between local Cargo Staff and the Airport Services Manager, ensuring efficiency through clear station agreements and Local Operating Procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school qualification, Vocational Qualification, Diploma, or higher.
  • Strong experience, typically 5-10 years, in Air Cargo Operations, including dangerous goods, AVI regulations, and perishable cargo handling.

Required Skills

  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to identify market and industry trends.
