The role requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Role Context and Business Impact

The Category Manager will operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, requiring the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities. This role involves understanding complex business, technology, and operations processes both within Amazon and with external partners to develop optimal engagement models. The position is external-facing, involving close collaboration with vendors to build seasonal selection and manage long shelf-life Fresh/Frozen product categories, with the potential to define Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for long-term scaling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strategic partnerships, align, and finalize end-to-end vendor relationships, terms of trade, and operating model contracts.
  • Develop the annual seasonal portfolio to enhance traffic and engagement for the storefront.
  • Identify automation opportunities to provide scalable solutions and improve key input metrics such as selection, profitability, pricing, and availability.
  • Manage the P&L post-launch to achieve top and bottom-line targets, driving profitability projects with critical stakeholders including vendors, operations, and advertising.
  • Define selection assortment and continuously refine the product mix at the dark store level to reduce shrinkage and improve customer experience.
  • Source deals during Tier 1 and Tier 2 events to ensure continuous value offerings for Prime Customers.
  • Negotiate marketing funds from vendors for category visibility during Business As Usual (BAU) periods and events.
  • Prepare, pitch, and finalize Annual Joint Business Plans (JBPs).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting, with a focus on negotiations and delivering results.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing Excel for data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large data sets and leveraging them to drive performance and process improvements.
  • Knowledge of online retail (e-commerce) operations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong leadership development capabilities, analytical talent, and excellent business judgment. This role requires robust vendor management and negotiation skills, a deep curiosity about operational processes, and a commitment to creating a world-class shopping experience. The Category Manager must be able to work autonomously in a demanding environment, demonstrating a track record of strong project delivery, commercial negotiations, relationship management, and deep analytical acumen. Collaboration with multiple stakeholders including marketing, marketplace, legal, supply chain, and operations is integral to this position.
