About the Role: Commis Chef

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Commis Chef to join our culinary team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is designed for individuals with 0-1 years of experience who are committed to maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene and actively supporting daily food preparation and cooking operations.

Role Summary

The Commis Chef plays a fundamental role within the kitchen, primarily focusing on ensuring a clean, neat, and well-organized workspace. This position involves direct assistance with various food preparation tasks and cooking orders, contributing significantly to the efficient and hygienic operation of the kitchen in line with established standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area, including reach-ins, walk-ins, and counters.
• Report all unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor promptly.
• Assist with ware washing duties or other general kitchen tasks as needed to support team operations.
• Prepare and cook orders efficiently to meet the demands of daily operations.
• Ensure all sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area meet or exceed state, local Health Board inspection, and Holiday Inn requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in a culinary or kitchen environment is required.
• Possession of basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
• Some prior food preparation experience or relevant training is preferred.

Essential Skills

Effective communication skills are frequently utilized in this role for interacting with other cooks, wait staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth coordination. Strong reading and writing abilities are also essential, particularly when preparing meals from recipes, assisting in kitchen staff scheduling, and monitoring inventory levels.
