National Medical Care is seeking a Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon to join our dedicated team in Riyadh, Riyadh Region. This is a full-time position focused on delivering specialized orthopedic care to pediatric patients within a leading healthcare environment.

The Role of a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon

The Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients. This role demands a high level of professional performance, strict adherence to professional medical ethics, CBAHI/JCIA standards, hospital medical by-laws, and the laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with all applicable departmental quality plan regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure superior quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient at Riyadh Care Hospital.
• Provide patient care within the parameters of professional competence and clinical privileges for both in-patients and out-patients.
• Practice within the framework of clinically relevant and scientifically valid standards, guidelines, and criteria.
• Conduct regular ward rounds independently or as part of a team to formulate multi-disciplinary treatment plans, including pre-operative and post-operative care.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the specialty's scope.
• Assess and refer appropriate patients to other medical facilities and accept referrals for medical problems within the specialty.
• Serve as a Pediatric consultant to the orthopedic department for in and out patients as assigned.
• Participate in the departmental on-call rota for patient care and admission.
• Respond to emergencies, offering advice and actively participating in problem resolution related to the specialty.
• Observe and uphold patient rights regarding security, confidentiality, and privacy.
• Maintain appropriate, accurate, timely, and legible medical records for all patients.
• Demonstrate a leadership role in organizational performance and supervise assigned junior staff.
• Provide leadership for performance-improvement functions, including measurement, assessment, and improvement of clinical and non-clinical processes as part of the Department Quality Plan.
• Educate patients and families according to their needs, implementing the patient/family education process as per policy and procedure, including documentation in medical records.
• Involve patients/families in the plan of care and respect their goals and choices.
• Provide health promotion and teaching using methods appropriate to the patient's developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, culture, and situation.
• Allot necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education, with appropriate documentation.
• Abide by Department Policies & Procedures, hospital by-laws, Rules, and Regulations.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Reporting Structure and Supervision

The Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon reports directly to the Head, Department of Orthopedic. This role involves supervising Senior Registrars, Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other assigned paramedical staff. The position also requires liaison with Consultants of own specialty and other departments, Nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. Essential qualifications include:

• Registration in Saudi Medical Council and/or a current license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia.
• A current valid license to practice medicine in the area of his specialty.

Commitment to Professional Development

The role requires active participation in Continued Medical Education (CME) through hospital activities such as morning report meetings, grand rounds, clinical tutorials, seminars, journal clubs, and radiology/clinico-pathological conferences, as well as national/international meetings, conferences, and symposia. The Consultant will also actively participate in training programs within the hospital for junior medical staff, nursing staff, and technicians, continuously updating medical knowledge and upgrading professional skills. Participation in assigned committee meetings (*, Quality Improvement, Infection Control) is also expected.
